How does Email sending work with Growably?

Growably has the ability to send emails to your Prospects and Clients through areas like the Marketing Automation workflows and the CRM.

However as you’re in the MSP Industry, you’ll know that there’s a lot of nuance to “Sending Emails” (e.g. things like DNS Records, SPAM Management, Shared vs Dedicated IPs, Blacklists, etc).

So, in Growably – you have two options to manage how your emails are sent:

  1. OPTION 1: Send your emails through our Mailgun account that we have included for free. This option is faster for you to get up and running, however you will have less control & there is a limit to the number of emails you can send each month (more details here). Also, if a Growably user sends out unsolicited emails and gets our account flagged, your sending may also be limited until we can work with Mailgun to remove the flag.
  2. OPTION 2: You integrate your own SMTP Service. This will take an extra hour for you to setup and gives you the most control, without any limits. High Level has the deepest integration with Mailgun, however you can use any SMTP Service (here’s some services you can use). If you do decide to use Mailgun – click here for details on how to configure it.

Why does Growably work like this?

Most Marketing Automation CRMs (such as InfusionSoft/Keap & ActiveCampaign) force you to use their SMTP servers to send all your emails.

This means you are beholden to them making sure that they keep their Shared IP Pools free of spammers, so your emails aren’t blacklisted. Unfortunately, this happens all the time.

Whereas, the platform that Growably has been built on top of (High Level) decided early on that they didn’t want to get caught up in the crazy complicated world of email deliverability, so they decided to NOT offer Email Sending as part of their product and instead allow users to choose their own SMTP service.

High Level know that it’s incredibly hard to manage global email deliverability for billions and billions of emails and they didn’t want to tie up their Development and Support teams dealing with this.

We think it’s a super smart move as it means they can focus much more intensely on building amazing features into the platform.

We love this flexibility and wish other Marketing Automation tools would follow suit.
